The Annual Cherokee District Pinewood Derby is just around the corner (March 4th ) but it’s not too late to make your derby the best it can be! Be sure to design it for speed or make it stand out of all the categories available. For example, Best Design. It’s gonna be a fun day at the races! Here are some information about our event…

This event is a Class A uniform only.
Event MC will be none other than our Scout, Taylor Rosser. We will begin with an Invocation followed by the Flag Ceremony.
This is a great opportunity to make sure your derby qualifies. The weight of your derby must a maximum of 5 ounces. There will be a scales for this and will be manned by two Akela/Leader volunteers. Once a derby is registered and assigned a number, it will go into the impound area. NO Cubs or parents will be allowed in this area. CLICK HERE for official rules.
Scouts who want to race must be registered and qualified. 1pm is start of the race. No late registration allowed. With the exception of adding weight to your cars to qualify, please have your derby race ready and be prompt in weighing your derby (ie. no painting or gluing). Another note, if you will be using graphite to lubricate your wheels, please be sure not to spill onto the floor or table. It is very difficult to clean up graphite. PRE-REGISTER HERE
1pm to 4pm – Race Time
May the Best Derby Win! Our races will continue until all the derbies have raced down the track. Trophies will be awarded after all the tallies are done and ballots counted for the “Best Of” categories. Also, there will be lunch/snacks area will be open for purchase.
The Pack will be selling drinks, hot dogs, pizza, popcorn and deserts during the races.
We will have two Akelas to man the Registration Table.
Voting for Pinewood Derby BEST DESIGN. Scouts will go and see the derby cars, vote, and then turn it in Ballot box.
Patches will be distributed and Trophies announced after all scores are tallied at end of race plus award ceremony to follow.
